Sculptured marble plinth

This square pedestal depicts a woman dragging a man from his seated position. There are some indications that the male character may be the hero Heracles, yet this assumption is not conclusive.

Marble column drum from the later Temple of Artemis at Ephesos

The best preserved column drum of the temple portrays Hermes Psychopompos leading a female, argued to be Iphigenia, Alkestis, Eurydice, or Persephone. According to Pliny the Elder, one of the thirty-six column drums was carved by the sculptor Skopas, though there is no way to ascertain whether or not this is that one.
